Chi Eta receives two awards at Ekklesia

The Chi Eta Chapter was awarded it’s first awards as a chapter, during the 162nd Ekklesia in Phoenix, Az.  Ekklesia is the biennium conference for Phi Gamma Delta.  The chapter was recognized with an honorable mention for the Jordan Bowl, outstanding scholarship. The then colony posted a 3.25 average, ranking first among fraternities on WKU’s campus. The chapter has maintained the highest GPA among fraternities for the past four semesters. All this would not have been possible if were not for Ray Blankenship who also received a Crowder Cup honorable mention, for outstanding academic advisor.

Six Fijis Named Kentucky Colonels

Mitch White, Chaz Vittitow, Jordan Minton, Justin Cave, Tyler Jury and Wade Haga were recently named Kentucky Colonels. Kentucky Colonels are appointed by the sitting Governor and a Secretary of State. While every Colonel is appointed with this distinct honor for different reasons, the organization recognizes strength of character, leadership and dedication to the welfare of others.  Fiji’s Across America has raised over $40,000 for Alzheimer’s research and biked over 3,200 miles across the county to bring awareness to the nation.

Greek Week Awards

The Brothers of Phi Gamma Delta were honored this past weekend at the annual Greek Week Awards. The awards ceremony, held in Van Meter Auditorium, honored Greeks across WKU’s campus.

The Delta Colony brought home their fair share of hardware highlighted by both Matt Cooke and Chaz Vittitow being named to the WKU Greek Hall of Fame. The colony also received awards for Campus Involvement and Leadership, Greek Involvement, and Scholastic Achievement. The brothers competed in various events throughout the week, placing third in Greek Feud, Penny Toss, and Banner.

The evening was topped off when Bryan Hartzell, a sophomore from Brentwood, Tenn., was honored with the Colony’s second consecutive Order of Omega Outstanding New Member Award. Colony Advisor Bob Anderegg was recognized with the Randy Bracey Outstanding Advisor Award.

Proud of their strong finish in this year’s Greek Week, the brothers now anxiously await the 2010 Homecoming with the sisters of Kappa Delta and the men of Farmhouse.

Delta Class Initiated

The last of the Founding Father pledge classes were initiated into the Delta Colony of Phi Gamma Delta at Western Kentucky University.  This is the class initiated before the Colony receives its Charter on May 1st.  Also initiated was Graduate Initiate and Board of Colony Advisor Dr. Dean Kahler.

Save the Date – Chartering

Chartering Weekend (April 30 – May 1, 2010) for the Chi Eta Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta at Western Kentucky University is approaching fast!

This will be a very exciting weekend for the colony as the men are installed into the Fraternity and the chapter receives its charter.  The highlight of the weekend will be the Chartering Banquet and Norris Pig Dinner, being held on May 1st at 6pm at the Houchens-Smith Stadium Topper Club.  We are honored to have Archon President Bill Miller as the keynote speaker for this event.
