Chaz Vittitow, Chapter President

Welcome to the Chi Eta chapter of Phi Gamma Delta at Western Kentucky University. I think you will find our distinct group to be men of honor that embrace the proud heritage of Phi Gamma Delta and hold a strong presence on our campus.

Phi Gamma Delta at Western Kentucky University is always on the rise to achieve greatness.  On May 1st, 2010 we received our charter to become the newly formed Chi Eta chapter and have recently obtained a rebuilt chapter house that we take great pride in. As a well rooted chapter our members have taken responsibility to come back to the heart of what fraternity really stands for.  This is to be men that aspire to achieve the highest scholarship and continually educate ourselves, that we may be a pivotal part in our community and university.  As we have brought more and more men into our ranks, our members have engaged in dedication to excellence in academics, service, member development, and several other areas that come along with being a young man in college.  All this done while having an enjoyable college experience and making memories and relationships that will last a lifetime.

Though the Chi Eta chapter is only 18 months old, we have already begun to gain recognition for our efforts.  Our chapter has had the highest GPA among fraternities on WKU’s campus since we began and we have been recognized by our international fraternity for excellence in academics, service, and our graduate involvement.  We compete heavily in campus events such as Greek Week, Homecoming, and Intramurals.  Our chapter takes great pride in giving back through Philanthropic events such as our annual Fiji Rivalry Run in which we run the game-ball from Bowling Green, KY to Murphreesboro, TN for the football match between WKU and MTSU.  Also the summer event, Fijis Across America, in which six of our members rode their bicycles 3.200 miles cross country over seven weeks to raise over 45,000 dollars for Alzheimer’s research.

WKU is the fastest growing university in Kentucky for 12 years straight, some 20,000 students grace our campuses in Bowling Green, Glasgow, Owensboro and the Elizabethtown area.  With all 20,000 students we seek to be the best men at our university by dedicating ourselves to the five values of Phi Gamma Delta: Friendship, Knowledge, Service, Morality, and Excellence.  By dedicating ourselves to these we seek to bring honor to God, our school, and each other.

A fraternity where all members have the chance to succeed, we offer ways for our brothers to be involved early on in membership and to have excellent member development programs such as our big brother program, graduate mentors, and programs through our national fraternity in FIJI Academy and Ekklessia.  The Chi Eta chapter seeks to develop our young men into contributing members of society by providing opportunities to learn things not provided in a classroom.  As WKU students we can enjoy an intimate scholarly environment on a vibrant campus and becoming a member of Phi Gamma Delta is meant to enhance this wonderful college experience.

As a student of WKU I have been blessed to have the opportunity to become a leader on campus and develop my skills in several diverse ways.  In being a part of the WKU family, you inherit a rich tradition and pride that has been built over several generations.  As members of Phi Gamma Delta at WKU, we are proud to inherit the  tradition of WKU.  We have adopted the wonderful spirit of WKU by becoming enriched in the tradition and have even named the chapter of our fraternity after our Alma Matter, College Heights (X-chi H-eta).  Phi Gamma Delta looks forward to the growing tradition of WKU and continues to develop our own rich tradition in our group of men on a spirited campus.

I invite you to become invested in our group of men that upholds rich values and tradition and are dedicated to a bold future. To the members of Phi Gamma Delta at WKU, the Spirit Makes the Master and friendship is always the sweetest influence.
